Accounting Team Leader

Job Description
Essential Functions:
- Provide leadership, direction, and support to the accounts receivable team members.
- Participate in the ongoing development of the entire accounting team.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and report preparation.
- Lead process improvement efforts within the accounts receivable area.
- Assist with creating budgets and projections.
- Assist in the creation of the month end closing reports.
- Assist with Month End close process as needed.
- Review General Ledger activity as needed and analyzes information to facilitate relevant reporting .
- Prepare, obtain approval and post monthly accruing expenses entries as needed.
- Drive reporting improvements and standardization efforts.
- Respond to accounting and financial inquiries by researching and interpreting data.
- Provide accounting support and processing entries when workload requires additional support.
- Assist in preparation of year-end work papers for internal and external audits.
- May have responsibility for international operations and intercompany financial consolidations.
- Proactively communicate observations to Controller upon initial discovery then works to validate data.
- Assist with various finance and accounting team projects as needed.
- Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Polite and professional manner.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance with 4+ years of experience.
- Prior leadership experience and demonstrated leadership skillset.
- Ability to recognize problems and take appropriate action.
- Experience with state and local sales/use tax and property tax returns & filings is preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook knowledge.
- High level of computer skills including business analytics software.
- Ability to work in fast-paced, team-based environment.
- Strong communication skills to interact with internal and external customers.
- Strong time management skills and detail orientation.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Highly motivated, well organized.
- Effective presentation skills.
- Ability to drive results without a great deal of direct supervision.
- Experience with multi-company and multi-country operations
- Fixed asset management and reporting experience
